Welcome to the Humanities: Ancient Year!
Humanities is the study of how people live their lives and of the records they leave behind. Some of the topics included in the study of humanities are history, geography, literature, art, music, architecture, technology, and philosophy. In humanities class, students will explore how each of these topics affected the lives of the people of the time period being studied.
This year we will survey the history of the ancient eastern hemisphere: The beginnings of civilization in the fertile crescent, Sumer, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Egypt will be covered in the first semester. Greece and Rome will be covered in the second semester. Key events, ideas, persons, and daily life will be studied and discussed.
