At-Home Assignments: Parents Homeschooling Kids
The learning continues at home.
We are a part-time home school program and cannot teach all the necessary elements of the curriculum in two days a week. Therefore, parents must provide the instruction and monitoring for at-home assignments. These assignments are different from a typical homework assignment. Homework is a student practicing what they've already learned in class. At-home assignments are typically designed to be an extension of the learning and often require a team effort between the parent-educator and the student.
Students at this level should be responsible for knowing what their assignments are. We recommend an assignment book for students to write their assignments in. Also, assignments are on calendars located on each individual teacher's pages. It is also possible to add assignments to your google calendar!
Literature is an important part of any education. The Classical model recommends reading two to four books a month! Both Humanities and Language Arts classes may assign some reading. However, if your students needs more to read, we are providing this list of recommended reading choices to inspire you and your student on their literary journey: Recommended Reading List.
PRA Classical Academy does not tolerate plagiarism. If a student turns in a plagiarized paper, he/she will automatically receive a zero on that assignment. There will be a meeting called between the student, the parent, the teacher, and the administration to ensure that the student understands the seriousness of the offense.
